Our members provide fire, haz-mat and emergency medical services to the residents, visitors and property owners of the City of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

The City of Lebanon is the County Seat of Lebanon County, located in South-central Pennsylvania.  The city has a population of about 25,000 residents living in an area of approximately four square miles.

Fire protection is provided to the city by the Lebanon Bureau of Fire, a combination department consisting of nine volunteer fire companies and 21 career fire fighters, headed by a fire commissioner. All are full time fire professionals employed by the city.

All 21 career fire fighters of the Bureau are members of the Lebanon Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 1952.  Local 1952 is a local affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association and the Central Pennsy Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The IAFF is a member union of the AFL-CIO CLC and is the sixteenth largest labor union in the United States.  It represents over a quarter of a million professional fire fighters and emergency medical service providers in the United States and Canada.

The members of the career staff work a three platoon system, A, B and C.  We are assigned either to an Engine (pumper) or a Truck (ladder or ladder tower) Company.  There are two men assigned to the engine and two assigned to the truck on each shift.  The first alarm response is two engines and the truck along with a rescue company and a squad company operated by volunteers.  In the event of more serious fires additional career firefighters are recalled to staff reserve apparatus.
